Should You Buy The RTX 5070?

The upcoming release of NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs has created a lot of excitement in the gaming community. However, this buzz has largely overshadowed the mid-tier options in the lineup: the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070.

During CES, NVIDIA unveiled the RTX 5070, priced at $550, claiming it delivers the same performance as the $2,000 RTX 4090. Unsurprisingly, this sparked backlash among enthusiasts who quickly recognized the marketing sleight of hand. NVIDIA’s bold performance claims hinge on their latest innovation, DLSS 4—a technology that uses AI to generate frames and dramatically boost frame rates.

While DLSS 4 can deliver impressive results, it comes with a tradeoff: increased latency. For some games, this might make controls feel less responsive, which can be a dealbreaker for competitive gamers.

If you prioritize low latency over cutting-edge graphics, the RTX 4070 offers a more affordable option with the same amount of VRAM. On the other hand, if you’re into visually stunning single-player story games, the RTX 5070 could be a great choice—just use DLSS with caution, as it might not be ideal for every scenario.

As the release date draws closer, the question remains: Are the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti a smart investment, or just more marketing fluff?
